Pumpkin Bread

Ingredients:
  • 2-2/3 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup vegetable shortening
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups canned pumpkin
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 3-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2/3 cup dates

Directions:
  1. Cream sugar and shortening. 
  2. Add eggs and pumpkin. 
  3. Alternately add flour, spices and milk. 
  4. Pour into 2- 9" x 5" x 3" pans, greased and floured. 
  5. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
