Butterscotch Bars

- 4 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Directions:
- In medium pan melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, cool slightly. Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir into brown sugar mixture along with the nuts. Mix thoroughly.
- Spread in 8"x8"x2" baking pan. Bake in 350 degree oven until done. Cut in squares.
