White Sauce - a Cooking Staple
This recipe was a cooking staple in my family growing up. I think we put EVERYTHING into a white sauce. Not very creative. But, hey, it worked!
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Flour
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
- 1 Cup Milk
- Put butter in sauce pan and gradually add in flour.
- Then slowly add the milk and stir steadily over a moderate heat until the sauce boils. Add the salt and pepper.
- If a thicker sauce is desired, use 2 tablespoons flour and butter.
