Molasses Cookies

- 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup light molasses
- 2-1/4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Directions:
- Mix together shortening, sugar, egg and molasses. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger. Stir into shortening mixture.
- Roll into balls the size of a large walnut. Dip each top in sugar.
- Space about 3 inches apart. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 375 degrees.
