Kasen Secret BBQ Sauce

What do they say? Necessity is the mother of invention?  Well, that was the case today. We ran out of BBQ sauce and didn't want to run up to the store at the last minute. So we made our own.  And it was yummy! So here's the Kasen secret recipe!


  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons distilled vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash salt


  1. Heat all the ingredients in a medium sauce pan over low heat. Stir. 
  2. Allow to simmer for 20 minutes.

Fried Rice

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • Olive oil
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup finely diced green onions
  • 1 cup frozen mixed veggies
  • Salt and pepper

  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 teaspoons of oil. Scramble the eggs into small pieces until cooked. Empty the scrambled eggs into the bowl with the rice and stir together.
  2. Using the same pan, add additional oil, the diced green onions and the mixed veggies. Let simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
  3. Add several scoops of the cooled rice and egg mixture to the skillet. Keep gradually adding a scoop at a time to the pan and stirring.
  4. While mixing, slowly add the soy sauce a teaspoon at a time until the fried rice is a golden brown color.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Cinnamon Roll Concoction

One of my co-workers brought in this delicious little treat. Nothing healthy here.  But...yum!!!

  • 3 c flour
  • 1 c sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ c milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • ½ c butter, melted

  • 1 c butter, softened
  • 1 c brown sugar, packed
  • 2 T flour
  • 1 T cinnamon (heaping)

  • 2 c powdered sugar
  • 5 T milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

  1. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.  Add milk, eggs, and vanilla all at once.  Mix well. Combine with melted butter.  Spread into 9x13 pan.
  2. Combine softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon.  Drop by spoonful onto the base.  With a knife, marble the topping by dragging it back and forth.
  3. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
  4. Pour icing over the top.  
  5. Eat.
  6. Take a nap.
